A word about sound clips....
In order to reach the best compromise between sound quality and file size, each of our selected tracks has been encoded using the Microsoft Advanced Streaming Format set for 56k and faster modems. You will need to have a recent copy of the Windows Media Player installed on your computer, then you can play the tracks by clicking on one of these buttons -
.
You should hear the music playing as the file downloads. If the sound is not continuous, then you may prefer to save the file to disk and play it directly from there.
If you have a browser version below 4, you may have to download the file before you can hear it at all. Everything should work fine if you have Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or above. If you are using Netscape you may have to download the whole file before you can listen to it. Also you may have to make sure that the asf file extension is associated with the Media Player.
None of these selections will be quite the same as the original recordings, of course, and many of them have been processed so that they will sound well on a computer sound system.
