Scotland, Land of Praise
"Scotland Land of Praise" is the Choir's third recording on the Scotdisc label and follows on from the highly successful "Highland Cathedral and "Caledonian Christmas". In releasing this recording the Choir is satisfying the demand from the public and from radio stations for favourite hymns and sacred music. Thus some of the best loved hymns are included, hymns such as "How Great Thou Art","Abide With Me", "Love Divine All Loves Excelling", and "Guide Me 0 Thou Great Jehovah". These are joined by Scottish favourites - "Morning Has Broken", set to the Gaelic air "Bunessan", and "The Lord's My Shepherd"to the Psalm tune "Crimond". Featuring is one of Britain's top composers, John Rutter - who gave the well-loved "For The Beauty Of The Earth" to the choral world. The evocative tune "Bethany" with the words of "Nearer My God To Thee" reputed to have been sung by the doomed passengers on the "R.M.S. Titanic", is just one of the many other inspirational and well-loved hymns. Indeed the difficulty has been knowing what to leave out of this delightful compilation.
