The Choir has a new sponsor:-

Photo of David Hendry, MDIn 2007 we were approached by Co-operative Funeralcare with a view to supporting the choir in its activities. Needless to say, we were very happy to accept their generous offer.

Message from David Hendry (pictured), Managing Director of Co-operative Funeralcare, part of the Co-operative Group.

"The sponsorship of this popular choir is literally music to our ears. Music of all types is synonymous with funerals and can help to reflect a person’s life. We are pleased to be able to link up with the top quality Glasgow Phoenix Choir to help them to continue the excellent work for which they are well known.

We have strong links with many local communities and this sponsorship is one way in which we can give something back to the community of Glasgow and also provides us with an opportunity to help raise funds for very worthwhile charities.

The Glasgow Phoenix Choir is also proud to be associated with Co-operative Funeralcare and they look forward to working closely with our team to build on the choir’s success."

Happy 20th Anniversary!!

picture of Cameron when he joinedCameron in 2006

In 2007 Cameron Murdoch reached the milestone of 20 years as the choir's accompanist and Depute Conductor!

In that time he's become admired and respected for his outstanding technical prowess at the piano and organ, his excellent musicianship, his arrangements of many pieces for choir performance including "Highland Cathedral", "Flower of Scotland" and "The Wind Beneath My Wings", not to mention his knowledge of single malt whisky which he's been all too willing to share on our numerous tours (the knowledge that is, not the whisky!).

We know how lucky we are to have him and to mark the occasion and our appreciation of his talents, at our Christmas Concert in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall he was presented with a pair of specially commissioned 18ct gold cufflinks engraved with the choir's logo and monogram. Thank you Cameron, from all of us.
